Echocardiagram (EKG)

What happens during the test?

We will be using an ultrasound machine to look at your heart. The technician will put some gel on a wand like instrument and move it back and forth over your heart. You will be lying on your side on a bed.

Will it hurt?

No. The gel will be sticky but it will be wiped off  before you leave.

What do I do to prepare?

There is no preparation needed.

How long will it take?

It will take between 30 to 40 minutes.

What is the reason for this test?

This test will enable your doctors to see what areas of your heart, if any, are having problems. This will let the doctor know the best way to treat your condition.
