Cardiac Stress Test
 
What happens during the test?
 
During a Cardiac stress test you will walk on a treadmill that will rise and increase speed at certain intervals until you have reached your predicted maximum heart rate Your blood pressure and heart rate will be monitored throughout the test. After testing, you may leave. 
 
Will it hurt?
 
No. We might have to shave your chest for proper placement of your electrodes.
 
What do I do to prepare?
 
Come dressed in comfortable exercise clothes and sneakers or other comfortable walking shoes. If you are taking any medication that is classified as a beta blocker or calcium channel blocker check with your physician to make sure it is okay to take the day of the test.
 
How long will it take?
 
The test will take approximately one hour.
 
What is the reason for the test?
 
Your physician will use this information to assess how well your heart is working
