In
2003, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital undertook the creation of a Master
Facility Plan to update the hospital, improve efficiency and stay
current with fast-advancing healthcare opportunities and community
needs.
While
the overall plan will take ten to fifteen years to unfold, the first
phase will address the area of most critical need – surgical services.
Since 1997, the hospital’s outpatient surgery caseload has increased by
80 percent. As a result, improved surgical facilities are the
hospital’s highest investment priority.
Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Foundation has committed to raise $1.5
million to put toward the cost for the renovation and expansion of the
Ambulatory Surgical Unit. Community contributions to this campaign will
allow SMH to hold healthcare costs in check and retain a significant
degree of fiscal strength.
