Halseth
Receives State Award
Valley Health President and CEO
Michael Halseth was honored earlier this month with
the 2006 Distinguished Service Award
presented by the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare
Association. The recognition came during the
association’s 80th annual meeting held
November 2 at the Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.
In a press release issued by
the VHHA, Mr. Halseth was selected for the award
based on his superior leadership of Valley Health,
which has grown during his tenure to include three
hospitals. Mr. Halseth also played an integral part
in the development of Solution Services Corporation,
a five-hospital joint venture designed to provide
reinsurance for VHHA
members. The press release also notes his commitment
to wellness efforts in the community which have lead
the Valley Health Board of Directors to approve the
creation of a state-of-the-art wellness center on
the campus of Winchester Medical Center, which is
slated to open next year.
"Under Mike's leadership, Valley Health has become
a state-wide model for exemplary community
healthcare with superior performance and high
quality of care,” praises Dixon Whitworth, Chairman
of the Valley Health Board of Directors. “He is
recognized by his peers within Virginia as a senior
leader for the hospital industry. We are most
fortunate to have him at the helm of Valley Health,"
Mr. Whitworth adds.
According to the VHHA, the Distinguished Service
Award is given to past or present chief executive
officers of association members who have long
records of performing outstanding, valuable or
unique services and have made exemplary
contributions to the hospital and health system
community through leadership, management, education,
research, or service.
