Presidential Praise
Ranee and Peter Selufsky, two
of the WMC nurse volunteers with recent Project HOPE
humanitarian aid missions to South Asia, were
thanked personally by President Bush on May 25 at
the White House. Ranee and Peter received the
President’s Volunteer Service Award during an event
honoring volunteers and Asian Pacific Heritage
Month. “It was a great experience,” Ranee reports of
the unexpected invitation to Pennsylvania Avenue and
the opportunity to meet with President Bush and the
Indonesian president. But the real blessing for
Ranee, who is a native of Malaysia, was the medical
relief they helped deliver in the wake of the
devastating tsunami and earthquake. “These people
are so broken-hearted,” she recalls. “I went there
to minister to them, support them, uplift them, and
spread the word of God.” Ranee works in AM
Admissions; Peter in the Pulmonary Intensive Care
Unit.
