Winchester Medical Center's Cardiopulmonary
Rehabilitation Program is certified by the American
Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary
Rehabilitation. The program offers medically-supervised
and monitored exercise and education on stress,
medication, diabetes and nutrition, primarily for newly
discharged patients. The goal is to reduce the incidence
of chest pain, improve physical quality of life, reduce
time away from work, and reduce dependence on certain
kinds of medications.
Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is medically supervised
by a cardiologist, and is overseen by exercise
physiologists, respiratory therapists and nurses. They
help patients regain their muscle tone and stamina as
part of the full recovery process.
These
services are provided at Winchester Medical Center and
Warren Memorial Hospital.
