Educating the Community

Education among the broader community is critical in avoiding initial or subsequent heart problems. Proper education in diet, exercise, and the anatomy of the cardiovascular system can help people understand how the heart works, and what is important to know to keep it working properly.

The Heart & Vascular Center participates in numerous community events designed to provide greater understanding of cardiovascular risk factors, and information needed to stay heart healthy. In addition, professionals serve as speakers and educational resources on a regular basis, and conduct an annual educational conference targeted to clinical staff.

If people do find themselves in need of cardiac services, nurses working with heart patients spend a great deal of time not only teaching patients, but family members as well. Together, the nurses and physicians have created an award-winning, comprehensive patient education notebook that is provided for every Heart & Vascular Center patient.
